Gigaom as a great article on Free.fr and its revolutionary new wireless service.
They now are offering a €20 ($25.50) monthly unlimited voice, SMS and data plan. They are using " its network of high-speed DSL connections to create a communal wireless network of sorts, splitting home Wi-Fi between public and private channels and then using that public portion to create the mother of all hotspot networks."
Free has also launched a 42 Mbps HSPA+ network for customer that find them self out of WiFi range. Free has implemented a rather liberal 3 GB-per-month cap on the HSPA, but as long as you remain within Wi-Fi’s there is no data usage restrictions.
Free has a reported 5-million WiFi access-points across France. Only time will tell if we see another caries using WiFi networks to off load network usage.
